Happy New Year!

A very Happy New Year to all my blog friends!  Lang may yer lums reek!

After all the festivities I have finally had a chance to finish off a couple of paintings I started in my art class from November.  The inspiration for this watercolour is from a photograph taken on an unclassified road in the Crystal Forest in the Lammermuir hills.  It was taken on one of those days where the sky was just white and a bit misty during the autumn and the photograph itself was overexposed yet the colours were really vibrant.  There are tiny bits of snow just along the road side and glints of light in the moist road.  I added a touch of blue to the sky as it looked odd just being left white.  There are loads of mistakes in this painting but at least I can see where I am going wrong now so I must be learning something. And no - the road is not going uphill -  it is just sweeping around from the right to the left but as Harry said he at least recognised the place from my painting so it can't be all that bad.  Praise indeed.
